Fraction of adult

Legacy empirical rules; mg/kg from protocol is preferred.

How it works

Estimate pediatric dose from adult dose using Young's or Clark's rule.

Who it's for: Legacy empirical methods when mg/kg protocol doses are unavailable.

Young's rule: pediatric = adult × age/(age + 12).

Clark's rule: pediatric = adult × weight/70 kg.

mg/kg from protocol is preferred when available.

How to use

  1. Select Rule, enter Adult dose (mg), Age (years), and Weight (lb).
  2. Read Pediatric dose and Fraction of adult.
