How it works

Estimates calories burned during an activity using MET (metabolic equivalent) and duration.

Who it's for: Walkers, hikers, and gym users logging exercise without a wearable device.

Formula: calories = MET × 3.5 × weight (kg) / 200 × minutes.

MET values quantify intensity relative to rest (1 MET = sitting quietly).

Common US Compendium values: walking 3.5, cycling 7, running 8, swimming 6.

How to use

  2. Enter MET for your activity (see note in calculator for examples).
  3. Enter Minutes of continuous activity.
  4. Read Calories burned for that session.
  5. Run separate calculations for each activity if your day includes multiple workouts.

Good to know

  • MET tables assume level terrain and average fitness — hills, wind, and body composition change actual burn.
  • Breaks and rest periods reduce average intensity — use active minutes only.
